Day 15 in London
WOW. All I can say is WOW! Only 15 days and already I am feeling so at home and loving it! God is SO good. I mean, SO GOOD! I have a beautiful house, a beautiful and exciting place to live in (with SO much to discover and explore!), FANTASTIC people around me, a good source of income, GREAT opportunities...what more could I ask for?
This week of supply teaching has gone so much better. The schools have been better and I think I am beginning to understand the London kids more. Or something! But I am finding it a lot better anyway. I am absolutely loving my house - I don't know if I mentioned earlier, but I am right on the top floor, with a wonderful view all down the row of gardens that are at the back of the houses, and the beautiful sky! We have actually had the most incredible weather - lots of sun peeking through the clouds and some warm breezes! On my run around one of the parks this evening I even saw a whole lot of tulips and daffodils coming up! Spring is in the air!
Last week was rather hectic, so on Friday night I needed some space, as the house was very busy with lots of people...so I took myself off to Oxford and Regent Streets, and had a night of EXPLORING! London is SO beautiful at night. I had a ball just wandering around, having a bite to eat here and something to drink there...soaking in all the colour and people and sights. I found the theatre where Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is showing and went inside to talk to some people there. I could hear the sounds wafting up from the stage, and my heart just soared! They told me I should bring in my CV, and gave me some contacts in case I would like some stage-work. HOW COOL!!!!
Then I wandered over past Piccadilly Cirus into SHAFTESBURY AVE, which, for those of you who don't know, is the BROADWAY of London, where all the theatres are found! WOW but I just had such a thrill - I went into the LES MISERABLES theatre (holding my breath), and spoke to the people there. They also gave me contacts that I could get hold of for stage work. So...I am going to try my luck! HOW COOL would it be to be able to help out backstage at those amazing productions?? I could learn so much. So anyway, that was probably the highlight of the week.
Another highlight of the week was that I have an accountability group with...WAIT FOR IT>>>> Taryn Robb and Kate (my roommate)!!!!! How awesome is that??! And it was just so God, because Taryn lives just around the corner! I am very excited to see what is going to come out of these friendships - Taryn is just so awesome and how cool to have an inside look into a family! We had our first prayer time together on Sunday, at the Robb household in Osterley. WONDERFUL WONDERFUL!
So I am very happy indeed, and lapping it all up. There is so much to see, and so much to do, and I am SUCH an explorer at heart! Only 15 days and London is already home, and the most beautiful place on EARTH. But I still love the farm and Grahamstown!
Much love to you all...
