A New Season

I have decided to start up my blog again for the newsy stuff, as Facebook is just for poking and saying hi. :-)

This weekend was very exciting, as I moved in to what will be Simon's and my flat when we get back from honeymoon at the end of September! It is just the most beautiful little place, right near Hyde Park and a quick walk to Paddington station. We had great fun walking around our neighbourhood, looking at shops, buying supplies for the flat (it is only furnished with the bare essentials - so we have to start from scratch!). It is such a great neighbourhood, and we've already met some of our new neighbours. We really feel that God has got such a purpose for us being there, and we are excited to see what will happen.

At the moment it's just my boxes and suitcases all over the place, but we managed to sort out the lounge and kitchen. The bedroom is quite a mess! But I just close the door and pretend it's not there. ;-)

Simon surprised me on Friday - after a lovely birthday dinner and movie, he gave me a box of chocolates with a set of keys in it, and asked me if I'd like to spend the night at my "new flat"!! I was thrilled! I thought I was only moving in on Saturday! So we went to look at our soon-to-be new flat, and he had bought bedding, and candles, and wine, so we sat on the couch and celebrated! He had been planning it all week! So I was very blessed to have been able to stay in our lovely flat.

It's a 1-bedroom flat, really spacious, with a great bedroom, a little reception area, a living room with lovely big windows to the floor, a lovely kitchen, bathroom, and even a little washingroom. It's very cute, and very lovely. I feel very spoilt!

I have duly updated my blog...or rejoined the dark side as my bother (I mean brother) says.

Had a GREAT time in SA, was a bridesmaid at my cousin's wedding, and then zooted to Grahamstown for yet another wedding - Keryn and Tendai. Both were stunning! Fun to be bridesmaid though.

Now I am back in wonderful London. More to follow.

Buttercup fields in West Wycombe

At a National Trust Manor

We stopped here for lunch...note the moody sky - after a few minutes it absolutely pelted down with rain.

We did a 14km hike through the beautiful countryside north of London - in West Wycombe. Chocolate box stuff...

Oxford

The famous Radcliffe building - so many beautiful ones to choose from, but this picture looked the best. We climbed all the way to the top of St Mary's church to look out over the city, where you got a wonderful view of the whole square surrounding Radcliffe and many of the colleges.

This has to be one of the most amazingly historical places in England. So many spires, turrets, and beautiful carvings everywhere!

April Month of Spring!

I am so excited that it's finally spring! To be honest, though, I still feel like I personally am in hibernation...it's like I don't believe it's ever going to be hot, EVER again! Ah me, how the winter has embedded itself into my soul. But the buds and blossoms are slowly coaxing me out of my thick skin and layers of protective slothfulness.

Daffodills are beautiful! Heather and I were saying how we now understand Wordsworth when he talks about banks of daffodills - they spring up everywhere. Also cherry blossoms are just amazing. Mostly because everything else is still quite barren and bare, and then suddenly you have this tree in full glorious colour. Wonderful wonderful.

Tonight I have my first trial run as chorusmaster for the Mikado. I have been practising like mad, but I don't think I've overdone it. I decided that if they can't take me on the amount that I've practised now, then it's not worth my while - it's too much work! But I just love the music! Gilbert & Sullivan are geniuses - popular entertainment for the masses that still manages to be brilliant music. Getting a piano has been all worth it.
